A project

5 de September de 2016 | | Blog, Design

In previous posts we were talking about the value of an idea and how difficult it is sometimes to find the proper ones. Today we are going to talk about how a project is carried on and depending on which kind of project we will do it in a way or in another, but there are some features that are similar for both.

As we commented, the first step is to contact with the clien, study his or her case and see which need has he or she got, what does he want, how much can he spend in that improvement or service and which is the result he or she wants. After analysing all of that, we come upon a cloud of difuse information that we have to order and translate to search more or less correct and do some different designs.

When we have some designs (usually it is agreed with the client how many are going to be presented, because more designs are more time, and more time is more money) and we submit it, discuss them, modify them upto have the ideal one. Then is the real moment to give shape to the idea, to express it properly in the paper for it to be reproducible, realisable adaptable.

Depending on which is going to be realised we can start in a way or in another the project, but in almost all the cases, we do a small memory (although a visual one, without written documents) in which we have some referents of the idea, to have them in mind and do not divert ourselves. Here we also have in mind from the material search (for a project that is going to be built) upto the last details (such as Pantone colors).

Proyectuando

Next we continue with the most technical part of doing a project, in which we have the need of having skills that afford us to develope our own work with in the most efficient way. Obviously it is the perfect knowledge of various programs.

It is odd, because few time ago I bumped into a new in which it was said that achitectural scools advertise themselves with tools that stopped to be used more than 30 years ago, and it is that curiously, it is like that and not at the same time. Why? Basicaly because although those tools are not our dialy bread it is their concept, and if a person is more efficient using those tools than the digital ones, he or she sould use them.

Evidently nowadays most of the professionals use digital programs, because in addition of being faster in more complex situations they secure conservation, reproduction and the posibility of modification of the documents much more wide than if it is only in paper with analogical tools.

Returning on what we are interested in, the technical part in the best way (that is efficiency, conservation, reproduction and modification of the generated documents) and we go to de prototype part. Always or almost always a prototype or a small preview is made (in any way) of how the final result is going to be done. That means that in interior design can be a detailed sketch or a render…

Here modifications are done again, before carrying out the project. Once an agreement is come we make the product or service that has been planified during all the steps explained in broad terms.

Because if everything was done on the fly, planifying the realisation of anything will not have any sense. It would be completely unecessary. Of course it would involve (and in fact, when there is no project, or modifies are realized once the fact of service or product has started) mistakes that are not easily rectified or that would involve an important investment.
